Jake Yeoman wants to be the next Ringo Starr. Jake is 10 years old and is certainly more familiar with the drumming prowess of Ben Thatcher from his favourite band Royal Blood than a 60’s legend like Ringo.
10 year old Jake attends Takeley Primary School and discovered his passion for music in Year 2, when a teacher spotted his obvious rhythm during an assembly sing-a-long. The rest is (a, so far, rather brief) history.
Less than a year ago Jake’s parent’s Jo and Paul stumbled across local rock school Livewire Rock Academy and they have never looked back. Paul says, “It’s just brilliant, we can’t fault it. It is so important to have young tutors teaching the kids, they are on the same wavelength. It really doesn’t matter about the range of abilities, the end of lesson jam sessions are about being involved in something together. You just can’t go wrong if your kids are into music and sport. Playing the drum has given Jake lots of kudos with his friends.”
Jo says, “Jake has been coming to Livewire for less than a year and the change has been amazing. He can’t wait to get to his weekly rock school class, he really feels as though he belongs and his confidence has just grown and grown. He is really looking forward to starting at the Bishop’s Stortford High School in September.”
Jake says, “I’m nervous and excited about performing, and I am very much looking forward to playing my favourite songs!”
Jake was even lucky enough to receive a drum kit for Christmas so spends every spare moment at home practising, he even has the blisters on his hands to prove it!
Come and see Jake perform at the music event on Friday, 15th May at the Charis Centre. Doors open at 1830 and tickets can be purchased on the door, £7 adults and £2 under-14’s. Enjoy a “Pie for the Y” at the interval – £4 pie, peas and a drink.
